Scripture group meeting a success

17 Oct, 2007 07:58 AM
On Tuesday September 25 an informal gathering was held at The Green Shed in Canowindra for the Canowindra and Cargo Special Religion Educators (SRE).

The theme of the gathering was The Heart Of Christ.

As scripture teachers of various Christian denominations, the group strives for the same goal, to sow the seed of love and hope in Christ through the word of God.

Their mission is to reach children, families, schools and communities.

This was an opportunity to meet others and give faces to names but also to acknowledge and support each other in their work.

Currently there are 26 people directly involved with SRE in schools in Canowindra and Cargo. This figure includes scripture teachers, helpers, school coordinators and church leaders.

The denominations involved are Anglican, Catholic, Uniting Church and Corner Stone.

The group is grateful to Joy O'Bourne from The Green Shed for providing the venue for the occasion.

The morning tea was so well received the group has decided to make it an annual event. A time of prayer and reflection, a time of joy and laughter, a time of oneness in serving God.
