A walk in a rambling rose garden and a cup of tea in the sun has more benefits than just the smell of a beautiful flower.
Organised by Cabonne Home and Community Care, the Molong Golden Oldies toured Canowindra businesses earlier this month on one of the organisation's regular social outings across the region.
Cabonne Home and Community Care, better known as HACC, organises and provides the regular monthly, sometimes even fortnightly, social visits to
villages and towns across the region, for the elderly and frail aged.
"Going out and socialising is important, because there is more isolation with the elderly than any other age group," explained visit organiser Glenda
Gavin.
"Many people in this group, for instance, are widowed, or their partner has gone into a nursing home or care.
"It's important that these people have the opportunity come out of their homes, enjoy themselves and have a break."
The visits are organised to be as affordable as possible, and often the donation of a bus helps keep costs down even further.
The recent Canowindra visit included a tour of new nursery Roses Etcetera on the Canowindra Rd, accompanied by a delicious morning tea hosted by owner Jane Zammit.
They also enjoyed the Canowindra Historical Society Museum, lunch at The Old Vic Inn and a quick shopping visit to The Canowindra Trading Post before heading back to Molong.
