Longtime Canowindra CWA members and craft experts Trish Pearce and Mary Newman have stitched up their competition and earned statewide recognition for their work.
Handicraft Officer Mrs Pearce explained the list of achievements the two have recently accrued.
“At the recent CWA Conference in Broken Hill, Canowindra Branch and the Central Western Group have had wonderful success,” Mrs Pearce said.
“Mary Newman came second in here “Land” Class with a fine one play shawl.
“Coming second, Mary received a cheque and an award card and her name displayed in the recent Land Paper.”
The Central Western Group came second in the overall point score to Far South Coast.
Canowindra played their part in this success with Trish Pearce’s Sewing Bag featuring multiple stitches, twisted hand made cord and inside was a pair of scissors with decorative cross stitch keeper and across stitch needlecase, a detachable pin cushion and provision for needles suitably cross stitched.
The sewing bag was awarded 89 marks.
This was a wonderful help to the Central Western Handicraft team.
Sadly the cup is still being repaired in Orange and unable to be exhibited for Canowindra Branch’s birthday.
