More than 20 Canowindra businesses have earned themselves a place in the annual Daroo Business awards, with the list of finalists released this week.
Amongst the list are some familiar faces, such as The Canowindra Trading Post and The Falls Guest House Retreat, along with newcomers such as The Plague and I and taste Canowindra.
Eugowra and Cudal also figure prominently on the list, with another 20 odd businesses from Eugowra alone making the honours board.
For Debbie Guihot, of The Plague and I, the nomination has brought a lot of excitement.
"We are very pleased, because the business has only been open for eight months," Ms Guihot said.
"Just to be nominated, well, yes, it is a feather in your cap."
This year's Daroo awards committee received more than 400 nominations for this year's awards, with some businesses attracting multiple nominations.
Bruce Buchanan, Business Enterprise centre and awards committee member, stressed the key to catching the judges' eye was attention to detail when completing the assessment form and when listing the attributes of the business.
A mystery shopper is also employed as part of the judging process, providing an essential 'real life' experience of the nominated business.
The committee is now in the process of contacting all nominees with assessment forms, which are to be completed by Friday, May 18.
This year's its Molong's turn to host the hugely popular gala awards presentation evening, which will be held on Friday, June 15 at the Molong RSL Club. Those interested in attending the event are urged to secure their tickets early, due to anticipated high demand.
