Canowindra High School's 2007 swimming carnival has been judged the best in a long, long time.
Principal, Steve Harvey, said that: "the participation and enthusiasm of the students made me very proud. We wanted to put our money where our mouth was and the students came through".
Sport coordinator, Warren McKenzie, using the latest technology, calculated that 70 per cent of the students at the carnival participated in races.
"We had no choice but cut the dinner break, so many kids wanted to swim," Mr McKenzie stated.
"To get so many kids swimming is a real credit to the school, the parents and the community. No other school in the central west could get figures like that," Warren concluded.
The day started with a rousing assembly where the house captains strove to outdo themselves with promises of sporting brilliance and the weakness of the opposition. Many old hands said that it was the most stirring pre-carnival assembly in years.
Hayden Hodge and Nardia Smith were amongst the stand out performers at the carnival. Hayden was first in nine events and Nardia achieved first in eight events.
Jodie Ward also achieved great results completing in six events.
All students who competed are to be congratulated on their performances.
Mr Harvey added, "the P&C and Sue need special thanks for their efforts in feeding the students, it made the carnival a great family occasion."
