12 Nov, 2008 09:11 AM
Canowindra Public School students were among students from 129 schools who were rewarded for their participation in the Premier’s Sporting Challenge.

Students were involved in fighting childhood obesity and took on a 15 week challenge, which involved exercise and keeping a log book.

Minister for Education and Training Verity Firth said she was proud of all the students who participated.

Canowindra students on average exercised for 60 minutes a day and for their efforts received a gold award.

“Physical activity is essential for children and young adults for their mental, physical and social development,” Ms Firth said.

More than 330 primary schools and 71 high schools were involved in the 2008 Premier’s Sporting Challenge.
