Visit inspires new moves and ideas

Four senior students from Canowindra High School recently travelled to Sydney to attend "Callback 05". Callback is a performance of outstanding dancing and compositions by HSC dance students.

All the students completed the HSC in 2005 were invited to present their high scoring performances in a series of special concerts.

Matilda Berry, Erin Nash, Clarissa Kearney and Sarah Toole all in year 11 were surprised by the standard of dance of these students, and the production facilities at Newtown High School.

"We learnt a great deal about incorporating the elements of dance in our choreography", said Sarah.

"It was a great to see the way people interpret music differently. It has really opened our minds to different styles and movements," Tilly commented.

These girls have had an interest in dance since pre-school days and have had several successes in local eisteddfods.

They have choreographed and been involved in production, including costume design in Canowindra High School's major performance nights.

They have also encouraged younger dances and have began a junior dance group at the school. Both groups have been invited to dance in the Western Spectacular in Dubbo later this year.

The girls intend to continue their eisteddfod work this year and look forward to another successful year.
