The members of the Canowindra Club invite town residents to join with them for the pruning of the roses and a general clean up in Morris Park.
Work will commence at 9.00am on Wednesday August 2.
Once again the services of John Ryan, a TAFE horticulture teacher - retired - has been secured and he is prepared to give advice on both pruning and other garden problems to those in attendance.
At the completion of work there will be a picnic lunch in the park for those assisting.
At this time John will be giving a talk on the use of fertilisers.
Fertilisers can be both useful and harmful and gardeners need to know what, when and where to use them. So come along and learn.
At the recent Annual General Meeting the election of office bearers resulted in Rosemary Colcough being returned as President, she will also be doing the secretaries duties with Muriel Yell assisting as minute secretary and Margaret Richardson is the new treasurer.
The main project of the club this year will be the planting of a Wollemi Pine - a living fossil - at the Age of Fishes Museum.
Club members realise that both museums draw many tourists to the town and are proud to be able to add to these assets.
Along with the roses in Morris Park and the Lone Pine in Memorial Park Club members will be taking a continuing interest in the Wollemi Pine and the area surrounding the gazebo in Lions Park.
Residents interested in gardening are invited to join the club, which meets in the RSL room at the Services Club at 2.30pm on the third Wednesday of each month.
