Young people on land should be rewarded

Dear Editor,

If you’re between 18 and 35 and living on the land, then let’s face it, you’re part of a pretty exclusive bunch in this day and age.

And it probably means that you care about the future of rural NSW and farming, because it’s your livelihood and your chosen lifestyle.

If that sounds like you, then this is your invitation to the NSW Farmers’ Association’s Young Farmers Forum, to be held in Narrabri on 11 December.

We’re being sponsored by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry under the Australian Farming Future program, and we’ve got a packed programme to keep you entertained.

We’re calling on all young farmers, and by that we mean people on the land as well as any young person with an interest in agriculture and rural issues to come together to discuss key opportunities and challenges facing the future of farming.

The impressive line up of speakers includes Australian Farm Institute Executive Director Mick Keogh and the 2009 Young Farmer and Farmer of the Year, as well as media personality Tanya Ha.

The Forum will also provide attendees with the opportunity to network with their others in the farming field.

And perhaps best of all- it’s all free. Accommodation in Narrabri is provided free of charge to Forum attendees, lunch is free and there is a free casual BBQ dinner at the venue following the dinner.

The Forum will also include the launch of the Young Farmers Membership, which features a free year of Membership.

This is a really important time for anyone who cares about the future of agriculture to get involved, meet other young farmers, and have their say on their industry.

You can find out more by calling 1300 794 00 and I look forward to seeing you there.
