20 run victory to top grade

Canowindra A Grade versus Valleys

Canowindra were at home to Valleys on Saturday and came away with a 20 run victory.

With captain Adams back at the helm Canowindra won the toss and chose to bat with Troy leading the way with a well made 47.

He was backed up by Pepi who made a classy 21.

Then enter the new swashbuckler for the week Tim Spiros Kennedy. After starting slowly Spiros smacked the Valleys attack to all parts of the oval with five balls clearing the rope.

Spiros blasted 89 runs to get us into a good position. He was helped out in the final overs by a young, fit and energetic Nick Whatman who finished not out on 13.

Our bowling didn’t start well with Scott Gilmore taking a liking to Rusty. It took us a while but we finally got the first break through.

Then Adams bowled a good 11 overs finally getting the break through we needed. But the pick of the bowlers were Mat Devo Devlin and Ian Pepi Morrow.

Ian cleaned up the tail getting 5-14 in three good overs.

We celebrated our victory at our major sponsors the Services Club and partied into the night.

Hopefully we can repeat our performance this week when we travel to Grenfell.

All the best, see you next week.

El Presidenta.
