Rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of the swimmers as Canowindra Swimming Club got underway last Friday.
Improver of the week went to Max Wensley who smashed his previous 66 metres freestyle time by a whopping 25 seconds, which followed up a three second improvement in his 33 metres freestyle swim earlier in the night.
Eloise Beath was also a strong improver as she lopped seven seconds off her previous best twice, first in the 33 metres freestyle and then in the 66 metres freestyle. The Watson girls had a competitive start to the season as Hannah took two seconds off her 33 metres freestyle time, ten seconds off her 66 metres breaststroke time and four seconds from her 33 metres backstroke time.
Older sister Ebony Watson lowered her 33 metres backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly times by four seconds and both girls took three seconds off their 66 metres freestyle as the dead-heated for first in that swim.
Improvers in the 33 metres freestyle were Nick Willson, Michael Watt, Jake Wythes and Sophie Tremain who all took two seconds off their previous best time.
In the 33 metres backstroke Amelia Holmes, Sara Naylor, Madison Vitnell and Michael Watt also improved their times by two seconds.
Nigel Knight smashed his 33 metres butterfly time by seven seconds while Brocke, Harvey, Dale and Pip Johnson took three seconds of their best times.
Pip Johnson made it a big night as she lopped another four seconds from her 66 metres freestyle and Jake Wythes started his season well with a four second improvement also in the 66 metres freestyle.
Michael Watt completed an excellent start to the season with a four second improvement in the 66 metres breaststroke, while Erica Johnson removed three seconds and Dan Middleton took two seconds for the same race.
First relay winners for the season were Sophie Tremain, Max Wensley, Josh Flannery, Alicia Earsman, Tim Wythes and Madison Vitnell.
Swimmers please remember to sign the book before Wednesday afternoon and turn up on Friday night for roll call by 5.45pm so the night runs smoothly so all swimmers get to swim their races.
