Under 12s Council champs

25 Mar, 2009 02:37 PM
Cowra are the Primary Lachlan Council champions after scoring a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Condobolin at Raudonikis Oval on Saturday.

Cowra had little trouble chasing down the 68 they were set for victory, scoring the required runs by the 17th over.

Condobolin won the toss and chose to bat.

Cowra’s Rohan Toole and Toby Downing were bowling very tightly before Toby had Mitchell Burke caught at slip by Peter McNamara.

Peter showed tremendous reflexes after the ball had cannoned off Jacob McNaught’s hand, chest and foot before Peter latched onto it with his left hand.

Alex Davis was out in Toby’s next over caught by Rohan Toole.

Jacob McNaught and Nathan Leach kept up the good bowling.

Jacob bowled Lewis Goodsell to restrict Condobolin to 3-12 at drinks after 15 overs.

Nathan had Jess Wighton caught by Ben Wilkinson at point in the first over after drinks.

John Clarke and Amy Edgar then took up the attack.

Mitchell Deeves and Mat Watt set about pushing up the run rate taking nine off Amy’s first over and five off John’s second before Amy had Mitchell caught by Rohan Toole.

This brought Bradley Deeves to the crease as he and Mat took the score to 51 before Toby picked up his third wicket bowling Mat for 14.

Toby finished with the fine figures of 3-12 from seven overs.

Rohan Toole came back on having Luke Grady caught by Nathan Leach.

He bowled Tait Leal in his last over to finish with the figures of 3-7 off eight overs.

John picked up the last wicket bowling Bradley Deeves for a very well made 19.

Condobolin were all out for 67 in the 37th over.

Nathan Leach and John Clarke opened for Cowra and set about scoring the required run rate.

John was out leg before wicket to a Matt Deeves slower ball in the second over for five.

Jacob McNaught joined Nathan and they took the score to 39 in the ninth over with some very good batting before Nathan was caught by Alex Davis off Luke Grady’s bowling for 22.

Rohan Toole was out in the next over caught Matt Burke bowled Lewis Goodsell before Cameron Edgar and Jacob knocked off the runs in the 17th over.

Jacob remained unbeaten on 31 and Cameron eight.

Thank you to Andrew Schaefer for umpiring. Congratulations to all Cowra players on your achievement, it was a pleasure to coach you.

Thank you to Mick Schaefer for organising some drinks and cakes at the end of the game for both sides.
