Under 15s hold out Cowra Motors to record second win

Canowindra Services –v- Cowra Motors Under 15s Cricket Report

After a four week hiatus due to rain and soggy pitches Canowindra Services celebrated with a win over Cowra Motors at Twigg at Cowra.

Jamie Bennett won the toss for Canowindra, elected to bat and opened the innings with Blake Willson.

Jamie and Blake put on 38 for their time at the wicket with Jamie retired on 24 and Blake, 2.

The other twin Nick Willson and Nick Traves came to the wicket and continued to add to the score before Nick Willson was bowled by Sam Chalker for five while Nick Traves retired on one.

Kain Earsman retired on five while Simon Whatman retired on two as the Cowra Motors bowlers Brad Siegert and Sam Chalker slowed the scoring.

Matt Beaton and James Russell came to the crease after drinks and Matt proceeded to open his shoulders as he scored a quick fire 25 before James was bowled by a good ball from Matt Siegert.

Harry Whatman was next to go, caught Brad Siegert bowled Braydon Farrell-Grey.

Alex Willson and Stewart Russell came to the wicket and Alex plundered the bowling as he retired on thirty one which included six fours.

Matt Beaton came back to the crease for a short time before he was bowled by Brandon Vickery with a ball pitched well up.

Simon Whatman tried to charge Blake Stead but only succeeded in being stumped by ‘keeper Ben Schaeffer.

Kain Earsman and Stewart Russell played out the remaining overs with Kain unbeaten on 17 [three fours] and Stewart on a personal best of six runs, for an innings total of 141 runs.

Cowra Motors opened confidently in the run chase with the first three over going for five runs each before a beautiful low down catch from Blake Willson off Nick Traves’ bowling saw Ellery Johnson back behind the boundary for 8 runs.

Sam Chalker joined Ben Schaeffer and the score was twenty five when Sam was cleaned bowled by Matt Beaton for 2, Ben retired soon after on 17.

Brad Siegert and Kody Draber moved the score along to 53 when Brad was again bowled by Matt Beaton on 20.

Amy Walker joined Cody before Cody retired on 1 and Blake Stead arrived at the crease and continued to add runs before Blake was bowled by James Russell for 12.

Amy retired on 7 well compiled runs before Matt Siegert became James Russell’s second victim after a quick catch from wicketkeeper Nick Traves.

Brandon Vickary scored one run to go with his one bowling wicket before he succumbed to a quicker ball from Simon Whatman and Cowra Motors were 6-98 with five overs to go.

Braydon Farrell-Gray and Amy Walker chased the runs needed but Jamie Bennett ensured that Braydon departed for 19 with an excellent catch from Stewart Russell’s bowling.

Kody Draber was run out with no addition to his score following a quick throw from Nick Willson back to the keeper.

Amy and Ben Schaffer saw out the rest of the 27 overs but their total of 123 wasn’t quite enough so Canowindra Services have their second win of the season.

Eagle Boys player of the week for Cowra Motors was Amy Walker while Stewart Russell took out the same award for Canowindra Services.

This week for Canowindra Services it is the next round of the grudge matches as they take on Canowindra Produce at the Oval Canowindra, weather permitting!!!!
