Cowra’s under 14s representative side had a well-deserved win against Forbes recently at Forbes.
Cowra managed to chase down Forbes’ 127 with just a couple of wickets in hand.
Forbes won the toss and elected to bat on a wicket that looked like it could break up late in the day.
The openers N Greenhalgh and S Williams got Forbes off to a good start with the first wicket not falling until the 19th over with the score on 49.
This partnership was broken when John Clarke bowled Greenhalgh.
This brought Jamie Hoswell to the crease where he scored an outstanding 50no.
Nathan Leach (1-17) then got Williams’ wicket in the next over.
Conor Crook then brought Kane Brooks into the attack who captured the wicket of Bolam in his fifth over of leg spin.
Brad Napoli was bowling pace from the other end and, in his first ever representative game, took 3-13, earning him the game ball.
The opening bowlers Jacob McNaught and Rohan Toole bowled tightly with both sending down eight overs each for 20 runs, Toole picking up the wicket of Nicholson. Luke Tarrant and Luke Chalker both bowled well to keep the total a reachable 127 after 45 overs.
The Cowra run chase was looking reasonable when Conor Crook went for five leaving Nathan Leach and Cameron Edgar at the crease.
This pair knuckled down and continued the chase before Nathan was caught by Hayes for a valuable innings of 19.
John Clarke was next in and scored four before being caught behind by S Williams. When Cameron Edgar went after scoring a good 19, Jacob McNaught came to the crease and scored seven.
The Canowindra connection of Rohan Toole and Harry Whatman joined forces when the game was in the balance. Rohan scored a dynamic 27 and Harry made a quickfire 18.
Kane Brooks scored seven before being stumped leaving Cowra 8-122.
This left Matt Seigert 2no and Luke Tarrant 4no to finish the innings with Cowra 8-130 in the 42nd over.
It was a good all-round performance from Cowra. The fielding of Matt Seigert was particularly enthusiastic and tight bowling resulted in an achievable total.
