On Wednesday, May 28, 2008 Canowindra High School students will fight back against childhood obesity by participating in The Golden Circle School Fun Run fitness fundraiser.
Fun Run organiser Mandy Townsend is extremely proud of the way the students are getting behind the school to fundraise and thanks Golden Circle School Fun for providing every student a free 99% Fruit Juice Juicy Ice Stick for the day.
“Canowindra High School is setting a new standard for other schools to follow by choosing a healthy fundraiser in a market traditionally dominated by junk-food options, it’s up to the local community to get behind their efforts now,” said Teesha Cupples from the Fundraising Group.
CUA (Credit Union Australia) are showing their support and giving Canowindra High School a chance of sharing in $16,000 cash, which will go to the 16 schools with the highest amount raised per student in 2008.
As a result, students will be busy seeking sponsorship from family, friends and members of the local community in a bid to help the school community raise the funds for, so your efforts in support of the fundraiser are vital.
Sarah Morgan from the Golden Circle School Fun Run office said “We are seeing more and more schools looking for innovative ways to raise extra funding and also promote healthy messages to the school community, Canowindra High School should be proud they are one of them.”
Last year over one thousand schools across Australia used The Golden Circle School Fun Run Program to raise extra funding for computers, shade sails, books, playground equipment, sporting equipment and more. At the same time their students participated in healthy outdoor activities.
Happy fundraising to Canowindra High School!
