Local squash product Rohan Toole has earned an incredible third consecutive New South Bluetongues
selection, after his performance at the NSW Junior Squash Championships.
Held in Coffs Harbour, Toole finshied third in his group and was selected as NSW boys Under 15 number 1 for the Australian Team Championships in Alice Springs in September.
He was seeded second, but lost a semi final to the Western Australia champion, eventually playing-off for third place against the Victorian champ.
Rohan’s third consecutive selection has been described as a remarkable achievement as most players only represent every second year when they are in the top of their age bracket.
Rohan will be in the same age division next year.
Rohan - who plays in both the Cowra and Canowindra squash competitions - was selected in the NSW Combined High School side as the first choice Under 15 to compete in the interstate event against Queensland in Dubbo in August.
This is his second year in this team, despite his young age.
Added to that, he’s also recently been offered a position by Squash Australia in the elite Australian Under 19 development squad, with the eventual aim to represent Australia at international events from 2012 and beyond.
Rohan continues to impress with performances for western NSW in a state-wide team’s event in Canberra, and representing the Western Region Schools at the state championships in Sydney.
In his first attempt at an Open Senior Tournament, he earned the title of Riverina Men’s B grade champion at Wagga.
His climb through the ranks has gained the attention of sponsors, and he has recently signed on with GRAYS in a racquet upgrade and apparel sponsorship partnership.
