Rohan Toole wins A grade tournament

01 Sep, 2010 02:39 PM
Canowindra junior squash player Rohan Toole has added to his collection of championship trophies with a win in the Cowra Squash Club’s A Grade Men’s tournament.

Rohan - who was the 2009 B grade champion - moved up a level this year – but his recent win proves he wasn’t fazed by the older competitors.

His reputation as a giant killer was enhanced when he defeated Cowra club stalwart Karl Lanham in the rounds, then eventually finished over the top of three time champion Steve Burns in the semi final, after a very tight five set match.

Rohan played multiple Cowra A Grade Champion Paul Lewis in the final. What was expected to be a battle of youth and experience didn’t eventuate as Rohan proved not only to have youth on his side, but also experience as he ran out a comfortable winner in three sets.

Roahn’s latest win is part of his preparation for the Australian Junior Teams’ Championships in Alice Springs in October, where he will lead the NSW Under 15s team in this event.

Rohan has also accepted an offer of a place in the Australian Under 19 Development Squad, run by Squash Australia based in

Brisbane.
