I am sure that at the moment you are all wondering what is happening with the Canowindra Rugby Club.
The story for those of you who don't already know is the Central West Rugby Union board decided that it was in the best interests of Rugby in the central west to combine the two tiers of the Blowes menswear cup into one 13 team competition.
Meaning that Canowindra now would be mixed in with the likes of Orange City, Orange Emus, Bathurst CSU, Bathurst Bulldogs, Dubbo Rhinos, Dubbo Roos and the Narromine Gorillas as well as the six teams we played in the 2ND tier Blowes Cup competition in 2006.
Canowindra Rugby Club then put a proposal to the Central West Board where we entered no first grade but a Second Grade and Third Grade team and an Under 19s team.
This went before the board at a closed meeting that Canowindra were not invited to attend and therefore denied the opportunity to put forward their arguments as to why the Central West Board should accept our proposition.
The board voted and our proposition was declined in a vote of 2 for and 7 against.
At the time of writing this article the Canowindra Rugby Club had decided to resubmit that proposal at the Central West Rugby Union's Annual Genera l Meeting to be held on Sunday December 10 2006 and we will find out more then.
If you would like to find out more about what is happening with the club or what the social committee have planned for the off season our December general meeting will be held on Tuesday December 19 it will be our first meeting since the AGM so if you would like to attend everyone is welcome.
The meeting will be held at the Clubhouse and will start at 7pm sharp. Hope to see you all there
