A good day at last for golfers

A good day at last for golfers

25 Aug, 2010 03:32 PM
Finally we have had a good day for golf. Last Sunday was weather wise one of the best days we have had this winter and the scores reflected that.

Another good field of 25 starters competed in a 18 stableford event sponsored by Lawrences IGA.

A big thankyou goes to Johnny Lawrence for his sponsorship of this event.

The winner of this event with 39 points was Mat Devlin. Mat stormed home with a brilliant back nine to clinch the trophy on a countback from Malcomb Millar who also had a great round and was unlucky not to have finished one better.

Third place on 38 points went to Rohan Toole who is showing that he is a real sportsman and can adapt to any game.

Jackpot one was claimed last Sunday with one of our Eugowra players in Jim Malloy knocking his tee shot to within 750mm from the hole.

It was good to see some matchplay games being played last Sunday and with a stroke event on next Sunday hopefully we will see a few more played.

Next week we have a 18 hole stroke for the August monthly medal. This event is sponsored by Mark Grant and Alan Wyburn.

As most of you would know our friends at the Bowly are holding their annual meeting.

I have been informed by my sources that the agenda will include a vote to oust the current publicity reporter and install a new improved model.

Not before time in my opinion.

Right from my first coloum I have been reporting on how bad this bloke has been doing the bowls news and finally they have listened. I will be expecting my cheque in the mail shortly.

So if any sporting bodies are currently looking for a new reporter I believe that Luigi is now a free agent.

Just don’t expect too much from him he crumbles under the pressure very easily.
