Weather takes its toll on the golf course

Weather takes its toll on the golf course

04 Aug, 2010 11:58 AM
On what started out to be a beautiful day last Sunday the weather Gods soon made there presence felt to turn a nice sunny day into a cold wet windy miserable day.

We started out with a good field of 24 starters only to have it reduced to 15 after 9 holes.

You could not blame anyone who didn’t finish there round because believe me it was even to wet and windy for the ducks.

Before I get into the results for the day we have a major change for next weekends program.

As the program book reads we will be holding another of our championship events next weekend.

The event is the two person foursome championships held over 3 grades.

The event was supposed to held over 2 days next weekend but this has been changed to 27 holes on Sunday.

The decision was made to try and boost numbers for this event as a number of players can not commit to two days of golf. Its hard enough to get a leave pass for one day from the minister of war and finance. Lets hope we get a good weekend as this is one of our major events of the year.

Now to todays results. We played a 18 stableford event for the Gary and June Scifleet trophy. A big thanks goes to Gary and June for there support of the Golf club.

The number one player today went to Corey Knight who recorded a terrific score of 37 points. Corey must have webbed feet and he will go down in my little black book as a noted mud runner. Runner up was Mark Wren who also recorded a great score of 36 stableford points. Third place went to Jake Devin who finished with 36 stableford points. For all the players who finished there round you all deserve a prize for dedication to your golf.

A big thanks goes to Ned Grant for cooking the bar b que. Ned gave up his golf today to do this job. Do you think that Ned might have a direct line to the weather Gods or was it just luck.

Well did you read the Bowls report last week. Next question did you understand it ?. For all of you that are still scratching your heads thinking that you may have missed something I am going to try and explain it for you. The article was in fact a coded message to his gangland relatives. Because of the pressure our boys from the Golfy have been applying to him he was seen to be loosing face in front of his peers. The message really went like this. Two thumbs Tony or also sometimes known as Rocky is the code name for his big boss the Godfather. Roberto the Nose is his right hand man and his hitman. What Luigi was really saying is: I have been up to Earsmans concrete and extracted enough concrete to fill the shoes of Sonny the chucker (who really is my mate Michael). We will take him out to sea (Wyangala) and drop him overboard with his new concrete boots. Then Giovanni the mixer (cleaner) will come in and get rid of the boat and any evidence that would tie them to this hit. After this Roberto disguised as a carpet layer would go to the Golfy and demand the jackpot (which is extortion money) or the same fate would come to the rest of us.

I hope this enlightens you to what Luigi really said and don’t worry Michael the biggest flaw in his plan is that there isn’t enough water in Wyangala to sink anybody.

Thanks for reading
