Well this is it folks - the opening weekend of the hockey is upon us.
Saturday will see familiar faces mixed with the new, all keen to get out there on the field and dazzle us all with their skills.
Before you all go galloping onto the fields this weekend make sure that your fees have been paid in full - no pay no play.
In the last week of school, the Cowra High Open Girls team travelled to Bathurst to play in the second plus rounds of the CHS Knockout.
They played Canobolas High first and were convincingly beaten by the eventual regional winners. The girls played well but were no match for this well-drilled team.
The second game was against Dubbo High and Cowra were the victors 4-2.
The team played better this game and everyone was extremely proud (especially big brother Andrew who volunteered to do the umpiring duties for the day) when the youngest player Anna White scored a great goal. Well done girls and Andrew.
Goalie Gear: All goalie gear will be kept in the office during competition days.
Coaches will need to sign the equipment out and in each game.
Coaches will be responsible for the gear and to ensure that all pieces are returned.
Senior Players: Since very few seniors have actually registered no draw has been done therefore all senior players will need to be at the grounds at 1:15pm ready to play on this first weekend of competition - April 21 - team numbers and game times will be finalised then.
If you cannot make it to the first round weekend then make sure that your team organiser knows that you intend to play.
U/15's Team shirts are supplied by the coaches each week and will be collected at the end of the game each week.
All players are asked to make that they return their shirt after every game to their coach. This has been deemed necessary due to the number of association owned shirts that have disappeared in the past few years.
If you have a past hockey shirt, skirt or socks in your possession please return it to the canteen on the weekend.
The following team lists are still a work in progress.
There are currently 10 players per team registered or have notified that they will be registering.
Since it is possible that there will be more interested players arrive this weekend to play, players in these teams may be moved to keep the teams as even as possible for the start of the season.
So don't rush out to buy new socks just yet if you are in a different team from last year or you are new to Cowra hockey - wear long socks of any colour until the teams are finalised.
Any enquiries about the u15's are to be directed to Brenda Hannan on 6342 5761.

Heading up the coaching squad are Elka Johnstone (backing up from last year) and Terina Johns.
They'll be ably supported by Maxine Sandford and Melissa Gourlay with newcomer coaches, Jaime Buckmaster and Andrew White bringing a wealth of skills and youthful exuberance to the coaching team.
Looking forward to a wonderful season with some of our youngest players.
Umpiring: If the following people are interested in pursuing interests in umpiring can they report to Brenda at the field prior to the u15's: Jaime Buckmaster, Andrew White, Marion Rose, Eric Hutchinson, Emily Williams.
Anybody else interested in umpiring u15's or learning to umpire in any capacity, please see Brenda at the field so we can work out a program for the season. There is certainly the potential for more badged umpires out there.
Have a go, you never know how you'll go.
Under 15's Umpires: Anne Brown (ANZ game); BC Hannan (the other game); Other Umpires for u15's: Assuming Railway Hotel plays the late game, the team they play must provide two umpires for the u15's.
Senior Umpires: 1:45pm: Umps: BC Hannan and Maree Dykes 3:10pm: Umps. From the two teams that played early.
If there's a second game on in the early timeslot volunteers will be needed to umpire this game - please don't wait to be asked!
