Perfect crisp cold weather for hockey competition

30 Apr, 2008 07:55 AM
It’s good to see the crisp, cold hockey playing weather is with us at last - and just in time for the recommencement of the comp after the holidays. There is hockey news aplenty this week.

Congratulations! to Andrew White (Cowra) and Murray Bennett (ex Cowra /Canowindra junior, currently playing in Orange) who have been selected in the Western Conference U/17’s hockey team.

Andrew’s continuing good form at hockey has again been recognised and he and Murray will be competing in the Hockey Festival at Homebush July 6th - !2th.

This is an international event involving teams from the Netherlands, England, Japan and Oman. This is a great honour for the boys and a great opportunity to play some world class hockey.

Also, good luck to Emma Francis who will be playing for Shoalhaven District in the U/15’s State Championships in Wagga Wagga.

Family fundraising levy tickets: These tickets need to be returned to the canteen by week 5 of the competition. Make sure that you fill your tickets in (or sell them) and get them in for your chance to win first prize.

U/11’s and U/15’s: More players are needed for these teams. Players are encouraged to bring a mate along to play hockey.

If your mate is keen to play they will save the $20 Family Fundraising Levy when their fees are paid. Come along on Saturday - 11.30am for U/11’s and 12.15pm for U/15’s and have a hit at hockey - all players need mouth guards and shin pads.

U/11 players will be having mid week training on Tuesday afternoons at the hockey fields from 4 - 5pm.

Dinga will be leading these sessions which will involve ball and stick skills.
