This week everyone had a great run Brodie was great at hitting and pushing the ball, Brianna was excellent at dribbling through the markers and the other 2 girls were good at everything. Everyone was great with Brianna and Brodie helping to get the gear out and packing it up again. A big thank you to Lauren Bates and Bianca Garling.
See ya all next week, JL.
U/11’s: Red Cheese Burgers V’s Yellow Nuggets
The game between the Cheese Burgers and the Nuggets saw the Cheese Burgers winning 3-1 with Tara Sanford getting two run away goals and Maddie Jones scoring the other. Great goal, Maddie. Fraser Robertson was unlucky to score trying very hard all game, with some excellent hits. Little Lucy Jones and Wolfgang also put in a big effort, with some good hits and great attacking. Wolfgang was player of the week in this game. Well done. Nuggets didn’t give up all game with Matt Gourlay scoring the only goal and unlucky not to get another, Sarah White had a good game covering the whole field. Brodie
Farrel-Hut and Axton Farrel-Gray also having a good game with some excellent attacks, having a good family connection passing the ball to one another. Good to see Matt Gourlay back finishing the game after getting hit in the arm with the ball. Well done. Player of the day went to Sarah White. Great game by all.
Green Big Mc’s V’s Blue Fries
What a tight game between these two teams.
Big Mc’s: Our Big Mc’s are yet to get a win but this does not deter them. Julian Garling and lachlan Riches proving to be a great duo with their passing and great communication throughout the game. Alyssa Hindemarch saving goals in defense and proving to be an asset in attack. Kate and Brianna attacking well and using the speace well with their hit-ups. This never say die attitude by all our Big Mc’s will post them a victory soon. POW was Kate Elkins
Blue Fries: This team had a great attacking game. Jarrod Kachel had some brilliant hits up the wing finding open space, playing his best game ever. Erin and Natalie working well together, passing the ball and then recovering in the back for defence. Mackenzie Gooley had a brilliant attacking game, with her true Blue enthusiasm. With the Blues scoring two goals. Madeliene Pethick scoring a goal with her razzle dazzle, catching the Big Mc’s napping. Player of the Week Jarrod Kachel.
Ladder as it stands now: Cheeseburgers – 9: Fries – 5: Nuggets – 5: Big Mc’s - 0
Don’t forget training on Tuesdays with Dinga 4pm till 5pm. This is a must to develop your skill and techniques. See you all next week
U/15’s:
Cowra Smash Repairs 3 v Cowra Glass 1
Cowra Smash Repairs: Cowra Smash repairs started off at a slow pace, but soon found their game. Our backs Andrew Brown and Megan French played a brilliant defence game, along with Skye Pratt our goalie keeping out the opposition again with a brilliant stop to one of the shots. Our forwards John Clarke, Jack Baker, Jake Charnock and Tim Tarrant had an outstanding game of hockey running the ball down between them to the opposition gaol to score our three goals. Great team work, well done guys! Let’s not forget our new team member Erin and Lauren Bates on the wing and the young ones Natalie Camps and Samantha Brown running all over the field trying to help out and getting better with every game. Jessica Camps and Tim Tarrant were on their game with some great hits up the side line so that our forwards could score. Thanks to Cowra Glass for a good game. Congratulations to Skye Pratt for winning the Cowra Smash Repairs award this week. Goal scorers were John Clarke 2, Tim Tarrant 1. Best players were Jack Baker, Jessica Camps and Skye Pratt. Training: Wednesday 4pm.
Cowra Glass: Glass began a little slow after having had the last weekend off. Our game got much better in the second half as our team started to hit their stride. As usual we all had good games with strong hitting from Jamie-Leigh Gourlay, James Garling and Joel Watt. Peta Sharkey, Ben Jones, Tara Sanford, Julian Garling and Brodie Farrell-Hutt all did well defending and getting the ball out of our circle and half. Matt Ryan played well in goal and earned this week’s best player award. Tom Baker, Haylie Wright and Dana Hannan did well up the front and looked like scoring some well worked for goals but Smash’s defence was strong. Good work guys see you all this weekend. Goal scorer – Tom Baker. Best players were Joel Watt, Tom Baker and Jamie-Leigh Gourlay.
Elders Red 2 v ANZ Arrows 0
ANZ Arrows: All of ANZ put in a great effort all game. Some players changed positions without complaining, thank you, it makes things a lot easier. Christopher and Nic had their side kept under control by working well together. Sarah, Matt, Gemma and Anna had all areas of the field covered well in attack and in the defence when they were needed. Mel and Alex defended well in the backs making some strong hits up the side line. Ellie played on the wing and had a couple of runs with the ball. Blake made some fantastic tackles, never giving up. Kyle was in goal and made a few saves whilst keeping us entertained. Thanks for being goalie. Gemma White was our player of the week. She puts in an amazing effort each and every week whilst helping our younger players along the way. Thank you Mrs White for doing our canteen duty on Saturday. Best players were Gemma White, Sarah White and Melanie Savva.
Elders Red: Goal scorer was Hayden White 2. Best players were Mitchell Gray, Emma Francis and Claudia Hartman.
Seniors:
The Valley Hotel 2 v Aussie Hotel 0
The Valley Hotel: Goal scorer: Tracey Farley. Best players were Tracey Farley, Elka Johnstone and Mark Banks.
Aussie Hotel: Best players were Mel Kenewell, Kristy White and Carin Moss
LJ Hooker 2 v Townhouse Hotel 0
Townhouse Hotel: We went on with high hopes of not getting beaten by too much and we did it. Jill once again was stuck in the goals and pulled off some remarkable saves – where did that ball go? Even Dinga deigned to give a backhanded compliment on the effort. The defence was the telling point. Alex, Melissa, Jainee, Maxine and Dave all took their turns at the back stopping the youngin’s from Hooker from getting a clean shot at goal – at one stage we had so many touches on the feet in the goal area we put the Australian soccer team to shame, but the ball did not cross the line. Townhouse made a number of charges up field with JL and Emma putting together beautiful passes to get around the opposition. Linda worked hard on the left to push the ball through to the forwards. Well played Townhouse. Best players were Linda Jonkers, Jill Dunk and Alex Gourlay.
LJ Hooker: Goal scorers were Tom Baker and Candice. Best players were Candice, Jaime Buckmaster and Laura Butterworth.
Railway Hotel 3 v Elders Big Reds 2
Railway Hotel: Railway is slowly coming back to full complement. The younger boys, Blake Falconer,
Brody & Kyle Hannan shared the left wing today. They’d had a hectic earlier round playing against each other and were kept busy rotating through their senior’s spot. Railway were keen to fire up early with opposing Clare Watt known to carve her way through many an opposition team. Hotel were wise to create a scoring buffer. Spoon Falconer delivered first points in the opening minutes. Cracking Carmel Dalton on right wing placed cross after cross across goal with Andy Howarth, Jack & Toby Nobes eager to finish. Opposing GK Joel Watt was kept busy. Fullbacks, Jo-ey Nobes and Annie Garlick cleared nicely from the defensive circle and were under a fair bit of pressure throughout the first half. Skye Pratt at GK saved some absolute crackers from the opposition and kept them scoreless. Some solid passes from backs to frontline saw Carmel finish with a smash to the backboards with no angle to play with. Half-time, 2-0. Big Reds came out keen and coupled with some untidy defense from Railway took a goal. The smashing pumpkins rallied knowing what could lay ahead. Another forage on goal, with Dave Howarth off the bench surging through the midfield, combining with brother Andy, saw the Hotel forwards earn a penalty corner. A big crack from Carmel bounced off the post to to be reflex finished by Toby. Maree Dykes was now on up front, Annie went from backs to front. The line up looked solid. Big Reds’ Trish came on for them and working with Clare started creating problems.
Brenda Hannan in midfield got caught in no-man’s land and no amount of scrambling by Marion “Go-Maz” McAllister on the other side could keep the Reds out. A Red’s penalty corner saw the score now, 3-2. The Railway defense now had some work to do and the whole team settled to safely keep that equalising goal out of Reds’ reach after some shaky patches. Special mention to Skye Pratt at GK who was equal to some pretty hot shots today. Final score, Railway 3-2.
Elders Big Reds: What a ripper of a game! Railway dominated the possession in the first half and was
2 goals up at half time. Only seconds after the whistle to restart play Railway scored another. Big Reds worked hard and put two away to bring the score up to 2-3 but with only 10 minutes left there wasn’t enough time to find an equaliser. Clare Watt scored an amazing goal after dribbling through several players from the 25. Joel watt played well in goals again.
