Canowindra bowlers defeated by eventual district fours winners

The District Fours for 2010 were won by Ruby Fogg, Joan Bailey, Judy Nobes and Ivy Fogg (Cowra) defeating another Cowra team Ann Collins, Robyn Oliver, Jill Turnbull and Heather Hoad 27-16.

Congratulations to Ivy Fogg’s team on a fine performance.

Three of our four teams who entered the District fours were beaten on Monday afternoon, we all had byes in the morning.

Nancy Morrow, Christine Pickard and Julie Dawes teams lost and Colleen Crump’s won, Ellen Petty, Libby Balcombe, Moyna Rue and Colleen Crump defeated Leila Burn’s team from Cowra by one shot 18-17.

Colleen’s team were beaten on Tuesday morning by Ivy Fogg’s team only by two shots.

Well done girls you were beaten by the eventual winners.

The Monday raffle was won by Ann Currey of Parkes, pulled her own ticket out.

The Tuesday raffle was won by Dianne Mooney (Canowindra).

The three lucky draws on Tuesday were won by June McAllister (Cowra), Moyna Rue (Canowindra) and Ann Mackay (Forbes).

The two Wednesday Lucky Draws were won by Heather Hoad (Cowra and Judith Day (Cowra), our District President.

President Betty Jenkins wishes to thank Cyril Webb and Bob Robson for acting as umpires on the three days and also wants to express her gratitude to our members who prepared morning tea for the three days and also for their wonderful care of all our visitors.

On Tuesday March 2nd one Club competition was played.

Major Singles – 2nd round – Shirley Robson defeated Jill Messenger 31-10.

Thank you Betty Hodge for marking this game.

There were two social games, one triples and one pairs.

Margaret Gosper, Doris Pfeiffer and Deanna Noble defeated Margaret Gosper, Joy Beattie and Betty Jenkins 21-5.

Margaret played double lead.

Bobby Turner and Gwen Oarsman defeated Rose Veal and Julie Dawes 19-8.

The District Pennants commence on Tuesday March 16th, the No 3’s play Cowra White in Canowindra and the No 4’s play Parkes at Parkes.
