Colleen Crump wins singles title

27 Jun, 2007 07:48 AM
CONGRATULATIONS TO COLLEEN CRUMP FOR HER WIN IN THE CWD DISTRICT SINGLES held 4-6 June, 2007.

This was a marvelous achievement for this fine bowler from Canowindra Ladies Bowling Club.

Colleen played M Peterson from Cowra in the first round at Forbes and won this match 31-20.

Her next round was against L Burton of the Forbes Club winning 31-14.

Next opponent was Ruth Quinn from Forbes with the match going to Colleen 31-22.

In the finals Colleen came up against Ivy Fogg from Cowra and the result was 31-19. Colleen has won this event before & we congratulate you on your consistent play over the years.

Last week our bowlers travelled to Cowra for the District Fours event.  Our team consisted of Libby Balcombe, Nancy Morrow, Gwen Hayden & Colleen Crump.  We were not successful this time with the team of Shirley Bishop from Parkes Railway Diggers Club beating our girls by 25-10.  Better luck next time girls but I was told that Nancy played her heart out.

This may have led Nancy to have her first win over Colleen in the Club Consistency match played last Tuesday.  Nancy couldn't do a thing wrong even with the handicap Colleen had to give her, Nancy came out the winner 155-135.  Congratulations Nancy on your terrific win; with a bowler of Colleen's calibre it makes each one of us want to achieve more with our bowls & aim higher.

The other Club match played was a round of the Rose Bowl Singles between Sheryn Fisher & Jill Messenger.  The match going to Jill 31-14. I feel Sheryn had other things on her mind that day as she has played far better bowls in the past.

We had one rink of social bowls & this was a consistency match played between Libby & Di Dawes.

When you read this news item the AGM will have come & gone; next week I will give you the new Committee.

It has been decided that on the first Tuesday of each month we will be holding a Birthday celebratory dinner after our game of bowls for all our members; this will be at one of our Canowindra eateries.

That's all for now bowlers, see you on the greens, Jill.
