Due to a very heavy work load, last weeks report was a non event, in a nutshell: congratulations to Barney & Dalton in winning the presidents district pairs.
The annual presentation was held that Saturday with the attendance a little down to say the least, but everyone who was there had a great time with the only result I have on hand is the dancing competition which was easily taken out by Terry Mooney with his rap & ballroom combination (I think thats what it was). All results of the 2009 winners will be announced next week.
As you all know the Warboys memorial tournament was held on the weekend with 26 teams on Saturdays triples & 28 teams of pairs on Sunday.
The winners on Saturday were Allan Messiter's team from Cowra. Runners up Barry Jones's team from Grenfell.
Sunday the winners were Rodney Bevan & China from Manildra with Dool & Max from Canowindra taking second prize. A special thankyou to Graham Worboys for making the trip & presenting the prizes.
Next I have very important message & its all about the support this town gets from all the local businesses, whether its the Bowling Club events or any other sport events they are there to support. What I'm going to do next (I thought this up all by myself) is mention six names each week so that you will read it, because (my logic) if I put 20 names down you will just glance at it & thats not good enough!! Lawrences IGA, Belubula Butchery, Garden of Roses, Vicki's NRMA, Bryton Wool & Charlies Auto & Mobil . Did you read it? I will check up on you........
Last but not least, the ladies (I just love them) ooops I keep forgetting my wife types this!! I think there were more ladies helping with the food than men playing bowls, now I don't know if they were there to check on the talent but they did such a good job & so well organised that a lot of people thought I had something to do with it!! I'm not going to mention names but one lady has to be mentioned because I turned up on Sunday morning at 7am to cook breakfast & she was already there.
When she saw me taking half an hour to look for a wooden spoon & staring out the window watching Duncan practising his fencing on a sausage with a tong in one hand, she took over but I did help, I think, maybe she was more worried about it being high tea instead of breakfast, so thankyou Betty Hodge, not only for the breakfast but for overseeing the whole show. I really do hope the men take a leaf out of the ladies book & also like to thank the staff & anyone who helped, because without you these days wouldn't happen (no names in case I forget someone but you know who you are).
