Women’s Bowling Club fours finals have been decided

12 Mar, 2008 06:59 AM
Last Tuesday saw our Club Fours being decided in a close contest. Congratulations to the winning team of Di Dawes, Jill Messenger, Nancy Morrow and Shirley Robson.

The other semi-finalists were Christine Pickard, Libby Balcombe, Moyna Rue and Colleen Crump.

Shirley's team made a dramatic start leading by 10-0 until Colleen's team got on the board; the gap was too big for them to haul back the Robson camp, although Colleen's team narrowed the gap but ran out of ends.

We played one game of social bowls.

The answer to last week's question: Yes, players at the mat end of the rink who are not delivering a bowl should stand at least 1m behind the mat. Law 36.1.1

A few etiquette tips:

After the game it is the home team leads responsibility to return the jack and mats to where they are kept.

The seconds introduce the team members to the opposition players.

This creates a friendly atmosphere and a welcome start to a game.

At the commencement of a game the "home" team skip, or in pennants the managers/captains toss on behalf of the side, the winner has the option of going first or giving the mat to the opposition.

See you on the greens, Jill
