Canowindra 16yr old Veronica Wallington heads off to Switzerland to compete in the World Mountain Running Championships in Ovronnaz on Sat September 15.
She has competed in Perth this past weekend in the Australian Cross Country Championships under 18 yrs placing 5th, her best ever position, so feels in good form for the mountain running, "the bigger the hills the better," she says.
Veronica and her family have been overwhelmed by the interest and support offered her from the Canowindra community and want to sincerely thank everyone involved. The quiz night and raffle run by the Lions Club was fantastic.
Other generous supporters to be thanked are Lawrence's Iga, Age of Fishes Museum, Belubula Butcher, Klyie's Touch of Beauty, Country Labels, Bryton Wool, Cabonne Council and all the many private donations.
Veronica loves living and training in Canowinda.
She runs six days a week covering about 70 kms.
She said she is privileged to have ex local, Australian 1500m Champion Lisa Corrigan as her mentor.
