Angels race off with a bronze

Angels race off with a bronze

30 Aug, 2006 08:03 AM
The Charlies Angels runners were quite literally on top of the world when they arrived in Sydney for their second attempt at the gruelling 14km"City to Surf".

A problem with their original accommodation booking saw them upgraded to a Penthouse on the 76th floor of the World Tower in the middle of the city!

The luxurious accommodation and sparkling views was a great reward for this team who have been training hard over the last few months.

Team manager, Donna Beath psyched them up on Sunday morning with words of encouragement and promises of gifts for good performances.

This obviously worked as the girls eclipsed their efforts of the previous year.

Lorrae Barker and Louise Clulow knocked 8 minutes off their time to come in under 100 minutes and elevate themselves to preferred runners status.

The team of Bron Newman, Sue Johnson and Julie Middleton reduced their combined times by 6 minutes and claimed an extraordinary 3rd place in the Over 40s Women's team event!

Hot, blistered, exhausted and in pain at the end of the race the girls all said 'Never again!'

However a good days shopping in Sydney, plenty of Champagne and some yummy Thai food was enough to change their minds and start to plan next years assault on this marvellous fun run.

The Charlies Angels girls extend huge Congratulations to the Canowindra Ab Fabs team of Michelle Newcombe, Jackie Cramp, Amanda Dyson Windle, Lynne Russell and Tara Earsman who competed for the first time this year, and by all accounts had a ball.

Go Girls!
