What a terrific sight on Saturday at Oliver and Raudonikas ovals. The return of two Canowindra cricket sides in the Cowra district competition.

Canowindra's B Grade side put in a good effort while A Grade had a fantastic victory over the strong Valleys club.

In B Grade, Bowling Club won the toss and elected to bat.

Straight bowling and some good fielding saw Bowling Club restricted to 132 runs off their 36 overs.

Captain Mick McLeish led the way with 45 runs. Ben Houghton batted a long time for a well compiled 31 runs.

Nick Delaney was Canowindra's best bowler claiming two for 11 off eight overs.

Mat Devlin claimed one for 21 off eight overs and could easily have had a few more wickets with a little bit of luck.

Glenn McDonald, Todd Wyburn and Andrew Pull all claimed one wicket. Todd Wyburn, Andrew Pull and Nick Whatman all took catches.

Nick Whatman still playing in the under 16s had never been a wicket keep up until the weekend and put in a fabulous effort behind the stumps.

Canowindra's turn to bat and Andrew Whatman got Canowindra off to a great start with a fast 31 runs.

Canowindra reached 45 runs before losing the first wicket. Some accurate bowling saw the scoreboard read seven for 80.

Enter Nick Whatman and another good junior Brad Stewart who played some good shots taking the score to 107 before Brad was out for 13.

Nick continued his good day with a fine batting performance being last man out for 21 runs and the score at 113.

Canowindra falling 19 runs short. With a lot of new faces in this squad, it was a good effort despite being 19 runs short.

Three points went to Nick Whatman, two to Andrew Whatman and one point to Nick Delaney.

Next Saturday, October 21, Canowindra B Grade is to play Woodstock at Canowindra. The team is as follows: Andrew Pull, Nick Delaney, Michael Britt, Brian Stevenson, Joe Read, Nick Daley, Brad Stewart, Garry Whatman, Nick Whatman, Josh Duncan, Jacob Hodge and Ross Butler.
