Camp for active seniors held at Burrendong Dam

22 Mar, 2006 07:37 AM
ACTIVE LIFE WEEKEND CAMP

Held in the peaceful, beautiful environs of Burrendong Dam National Park, Sport & Recreation Centre, the Seniors Camp was again, for the fifth year, a resounding triple AAA success.

Six Canowindra people joined with 40 others from Ulladulla, Narromine, Maitland, Bathurst, Orange, Newcastle and Lithgow.

To enjoy the diverse programme organised by Jo, Jen, Trevor and Belinda of Sport & Recreation Department which covered archery, indoor soccer, bush dancing, tai chi, lifeball, aqua aerobics, pole walking, bocce, gentle exercises, indoor bowls, tennis and fencing.

We could join in everything, or choose whichever, or simply sit in the shade with a book.

It was entirely freedom of choice.

Evenings were spent with a Commonwealth Games Concert (Super Stars) or mind games, trivia etc.

Meals were satisfying and tasty, with comfortable accommodation mostly with ensuites.

All in all a really enjoyable weekend, which brought out the inner child in us all.

Those of us who have been to all five camps, wouldn't miss it, and Sport & Rec have suggested having two each year, Autumn and Spring.

So the next one will be October, so keep that in mind.

Value for money can't be beaten.

Good meals three times a day, morning and afternoon tea and supper, clean, comfortable accommodation and use of all facilities plus programmed activities – all for $110 – for Friday afternoon to Sunday after lunch.
