Canowindra Public to host small schools AFL gala day

21 Jun, 2006 08:04 AM
Canowindra Auskick, in conjunction with AFL Central West Co-ordinator, Peter Yandle and Canowindra Public School, will host the inaugural Canowindra and districts small schools AFL Gala Day on Friday, June 30, 2006 (Last day of Term 2) at the Sports Grounds, Rodd Street, Canowindra.

The aim of the gala day is to allow small schools in the Central West to attend as a school group, participate in learning the skills of, and playing modified games of Aussie Rules against other small schools from the region.

Invitations were extended to both Small Public and Catholic Schools (less than 100 pupils) within two hours travel time from Canowindra and confirmation of attendance include Canowindra (as host), Eugowra Bedgerebong, Cargo and Woodstock.

Canowindra Auskick wishes to ask both the business and social community to get behind this event and to help make it a success, for not only the children involved but also for our community as a whole.

As a consequence, we are canvassing for sponsors from the business sector to assist in setup costs for the canteen and such, all money raised will be used for the benefit of Canowindra Auskick, enabling us to buy team shirts for the local children that attend Auskick, new equipment and to pay the children's bus transport costs to the Sydney V's Brisbane AFL game at Telstra Stadium on August 26, 2006 where they will participate in a half time Auskick game.

All businesses that sponsor this event will receive publicity during the day via the PA system.

Any interested sponsors are asked to contact Michael Johnson, Canowindra Auskick Co-ordinator on 02 6859 5255.
