Close finish to golf challenge

On Saturday there was a challenge on between Eugowra and Canowindra.

Twenty two players turned out to play. Canowindra 42.5 and Eugowra 42.

First place was Paul Jeffress and Peter Kennedy. Second place went to John Jones and Adam Rodgers with third place going to Rick Adams and John Wallace.

Kerrie from Todis Barn sponsored the 18 hole event on Sunday and the winner was Adam Rodgers with the runner up being Paul Jeffress and third place went to John Jones.

There were no players in the nine hole competition due to the wet weather.

Sunday July 30 - July Monthly Medal sponsored by Canowindra Hardware.

Sunday August 6 - Canowindra Invitational (three person ambrose).

Sunday August 13 - Foursomes Championships Round One sponsored by Canowindra IGA.

Wednesday Mid-Week Competition

The winner on July 15 was Matt Gillan with nett 29.5 and runner up was Ned Grant. The winner of the chook was Peter Small.

Wednesday's competition is a nine hole event in which anyone can play. The cost is $5 to enter for playing members, social members is $5 plus $5 for green fees.

The winner takes 60% of the entry fee and the runner up 40% of the entry fee.

Tee of time is anytime after 12 noon.

All players go into the draw for the chook.

Golf Cars For Hire

The Canowindra Golf Club has seven golf cars for hire. Cost is $25 for 18 holes or $15 for nine holes.

Darts News

The winner on Wednesday night was Gil Stewart, second was Ben Clark. The highest score was Doug Slattery wit 180.

Darts are on every Wednesday night. Names in by 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start. Cost is $2 and everyone is welcome. So come along and have some fun.

Raffles

Saturday night winners were Chris Wren, Glen Rue, Peter Bourke, Cindy Wilson, Eddie Wilkinson, Marg Roberts (2), Joe Armstrong, Vickie Davis, Tom Cobley, Iris McDougal, Tina Davis, David Watt, Gary Boardman and Kendall Ballard.

There are 15 prizes, which include nine meat trays, one fruit and vegetable tray and five other prizes.

Tickets are on sale from 6.30pm with the draw at 7.30pm. The first Members Draw on Saturday night was not won this week so next week will be $1000. The second draw for $100 was won so this week it will be $100.

The 9pm draw was also won this week so it will be $60 next Saturday.

Sunday raffle winners were Kerrie Clark, Gary Cross, Ian Guihot, Candy, Trevor Thompson, Tot Fisher, Joe Callan, Adam Rodgers and Gay Devine (2).

The Monday to Friday draw was $60 was won on Friday so this week it will be $60. It is drawn between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

Footy Tipping

Big Kev on 93 is till one point ahead of Blue Wren on 92. Wendy Slattery and Bordo are still sharing third place on 90 points. Fourth on the ladder is Jamie Grant with 89 points and Carpo is still in fifth place with 88 points.

Restaurant

Come and try the Asian style meals (Chinese, Thai and Malaysian) also a range of Australian Meals are available.

Entertainment

Come to the Golfie on Friday night and be entertained by The Reason Being. They are a great band.

July 12 - sixth Monthly Medal and Putting

A Grade - J Middleton with 66 nett.

B Grade - D Dawes with 64 nett.

C Grade - A Cassidy with 65 nett.

Monthly medal winner was D Dawes.

Putting winners were: H Constable and J Middleton on 28 putts each.

Nine Hole was D Smith with 77 nett.

Ball Sweep was won by V Hartley.

Lucky draw was D Gilbank.

July 19 - Par Game

A Grade - J Middleton with on square.

B Grade - D Dawes with Plus One.

C Grade - A Cassidy with on square.

Nine hole winner was D Beath with Minus two.

Nearest the pin on the fourth and 13th was:

A Grade - J Middleton.

B Grade - H Kemper.

C Grade - A Cassidy.

Nine hole was D Beath.

Ball sweep was won by H Constable and F Thomas.

Lucky draw was D Dawes.
