CBC played a great game against Railway on Saturday, making them work hard the entire game. Unfortunately, goalie, Di Mackin went down with a serious calf injury early into the game (after some great saves!!) and will be out for the rest of the hockey season. Fortunately Amanda Wyburn was ready to step in and had a fantastic game, making many great saves.
Rosanne Holmes also had a strong game, attacking and defending brilliantly. Lorae Barker's hockey skills have developed rapidly in the short time she has been playing hockey. She trapped a difficult ball in the circle and passed it onto Bronwyn Troy who scored a fantastic goal.
CBC played one of the best games so far this season. There was a lot of communication and a lot of mix in their play. All players put in 100% effort.
Saturday was the last official game before the finals, and CBC see themselves in the top four, which all players deserve to be commended for.
Thankyou to Diane Mackin, whose contribution to CBC has been greatly valued. We wish her a speedy recovery.
Canowindra Central Motors 2 v Elders Red 1
Canowindra: Goals were scored by Erica Johnson 1 and Reanna Stevenson. Best players were Andrea Davis, Jess Jenkins and Rosie Wilson
Elders Red: Not the best game we've had this season but there were pieces of brilliance from everyone and that bodes well for this week. Playing short made the going tough against a determined Canowindra side but we weren't looking for excuses. Elyse bravely went into goals and did a fine job. Sam and Claytyn once again were strong in defence making Canowindra work hard to score. Andrew was strong in the centres making a number of runs forward and he was instrumental in setting up our goal. Our ever keen U/11's showed that they were never going to give up and Brody Hannan played another great game on the wing. Sean scored our goal by being in exactly the right spot at the right time. It's finals time and your efforts throughout the season have been rewarded with the minor premiership and the major semi final - give yourselves a pat on the back Elders, you deserve it. Make sure that you are well rested for Saturday and let's put our best foot forward (as the saying goes). Best players were Samantha Dunk, Brody Hannan and Simone Simpson.
