Heat no problem for Pull and Grant

The Canowindra Golf Club would like to thank our sponsors Ian and Debbie for the continued support of golf at the Canowindra Golf Club.

With 20 players braving the heat some great scores were handed in and the Winners for the day went to Andrew Pull and Garry Grant with 48 points scored. The next three positions were determined by a count back and were Runners Up went to Adam Rogers and Brian McClintock with 45 points scored. Third place went to Warren Fisher and Phil Makin with 45 points scored, fourth place went to Eddie Roberts and Kevin Wallace with 45 points scores and fifth place went to Len Hamilton and Ian Brown with 43 points scored. Congratulations to all winners for the day and thankyou to all of the golfers for playing on the day. Closest to the 13th pin was not won, but Mick Cassidy won the presentation jackpot draw.

A small reminder to those playing in the mens Sunday golf competition that your 2006 membership fees must be paid before you commence your round of golf.

Sunday morning nine-hole event saw 12 competing. Winner for the week went to Thelma Bliss with a net score of 31. It to see a consistent group supporting and playing the Sunday morning 9-hole comp.

Don't forget that the nine-hole comp is still being run with tee off by 10am Sunday mornings. The cost is $4.00 per person. All are welcome to play in this fun event.

There has now been a dress code introduced for the golf course, this includes No Thongs or singlets to be worn on the course. All playing on the golf course either competition or for fun must be sensibly dressed with enclosed foot-ware at all times.

Remember that green fees have to be paid at the club before going onto the golf course to be covered by insurance and that the Canowindra Golf Club will NOT tolerate under age drinking on the golf course.

Note to all golfers that there is now a time sheet on the golfers notice board for the next Sunday golf comp tee of times are there to be nominated for, just call into the club or phone through to book a time. Also golfers a reminder that pitch marks on the greens are to be repaired and sand buckets are to be used to fill in divots and try not to continually hit golf ball from the one place when practicing on the golf course as the grass areas are becoming very worn out. All practice should be carried out on the practice area located past the 10th tee area and also no glasses from the bar area are to be left at the first tee, they should be returned to the bar area.

GOLF CARS FOR HIRE.

The Canowindra Golf Club now has three golf cars to hire out for 9 or 18 holes. Cost is $25 / 18 holes and $15 / 9 holes. Bookings with payment will be essential, as they will become very popular during the warmer months when that game of golf is a necessity. Book now to avoid disappointment.

A Reminder to those hiring the golf carts that they are to be driven in a responsible manner at all times to avoid damage.

Sunday 29th January 18-hole 4 person Ambrose sponsored by Michael Cassidy and Aaron Petty.

New Golf Comp.

There will be a mid week comp on Wednesdays is now sponsored by Graeme and Alison Beasley of the OLD VIC INN and tee off from 12 noon. Cost will be $5.00 per player for Canowindra Golf Club golf members and $10.00 for Canowindra Golf Club social members and $15.00 for non-members of any description. The winner and runner up will scope the pool for the best net sores. If you are a player without a current AGU handicap we will give you a provisional handicap and once you have returned enough cards your true handicap will be awarded and you can become a full golfing member.

Winner of the OLD VIC INN comp went to Britt Gibby net 30 and Gary Grant net 30.5 being the runner up on a count back.

Each week now all-playing will go into the draw for a large chook just for playing. This week's winner for the chook was Brian Moon.

Darts News

Darts will be starting back on Wednesday 18th January so it would be good to see the old crowd back for some fun.

Raffles

Saturday night winners were Jayne Luisi, Jim Hogan, Sue Rye, Joe Armstrong, Barry Sharp, Ruth King, Bruce Gallagher, Melissa Thurtell, Chris Wren, Gavin Callan, Peter Bourke, Greg Hogan, Alison Cousins, Pam Matthews and Chris Norbury. Remember that this week there will be 14 mixed trays of meat and 1 fruit/vege tray. All are welcome to have a chance to win these great prizes tickets on sale from 6.30pm with the draw at 7.30pm. Don't forget that the member's draw is at $500.00.

Sunday raffle winners were Eddie Roberts, Graham Arnoll (2), Peter Starr (2), Don Ward, Reg Watt, Ian Guihot, Sharee Paton and George Davis. Remember that the Sunday raffles are drawn at 1.00pm with tickets on sale from 9am, prizes include meat trays, fruit n' veg baskets and Club vouchers.
