Frustrating weather for farmers and gardeners, but magnificent for soccer players and their spectators as Round Three got underway last Saturday.
Under Sixes: Kookaburras v Ray White Possums. There was great teamwork shown by the Kookas, with Skye and Millie debuting as goalies. Strike player, Jake, scored prolifically, with Joe fast in attack. A goal to Lydia completed a great game. Player of the Week was Millie Hickman.
A fantastic effort from all of the Possums this week. Excellent attacking by Grace, Matthew and Holly, with great defensive plays by Anna and Monica. Molly made some terrific runs, with fabulous support from Billy.
Under Sevens: KOOKABURRAS V RAY WHITE POSSUMS. A tremendous game from the Kookas, with goals to Ciaran and Joanna and magnificent efforts from Anna and Tim playing for the other side. Trent never gave up in the second half, and Jonah, Tom and Alarna were always strong in attack.
Well done Possums! The team warmed up as the first half progressed, with Raven and Brayden pushing the ball up. A great second half ensued with Tyrone in goals deservedly being awarded Player of the Week. Ellie came close to scoring, and there was some great defence from Windsor and Max. We're looking forward to next week.
Under Eights: HAWKS V EAGLES. It was a great team game from the Hawks, with terrific running and passing. Matt and Becky scored goals, strongly supported by Matt S, Matty C and great goalie work by Cass. Lachie, Renae and Bec chased hard and never gave up.
Two great Canowindra teams played each other with great spirit. Tim and John played well as goalies. Toby, Logan and Brandon were marvellous at the back, and Emma, Eloise and Ashley never gave up. Eloise was player of the week...well done, Weeze!
GERONIMO WALLABIES V KOOKABURRAS. Well done Kookas - everyone is starting to play in position. A great goal to Lucy resulted from a clever quick chip from Will. Player of the Week went to Amelia for a determined effort.
A good team effort from all of the Wallabies team, with excellent passing from Toby Baker and Tobi Gilmore. There was a big improvement in teamwork and passing from all players. Cameron put in a great first effort. James and Abby defended well. Julian, Kobi and Will were feeding the ball well to the forwards. Player of the Week was Tobi Gilmore.
Under Tens: GUNNERS V WOLVES. The Wolves put in a good even game against the Gunners. We started off well with goals to Tim the Birthday Boy and Clare. Great attacking from Ben, Jake and Paris, and good passing from Ali and Montana. Jack was tackling and defending well at the back. Zac, Aiden and Meg were all doing their jobs well. Tim put another goal into the net, and Teagan and Brittany were putting good pressure on the Gunners. Ben evened it all up with little time left. It was a big team effort today- we all had heaps of fun.
The whole team was proud of a fantastic Gunners comeback performance from two lightning goals to the Wolves. Confidence was restored with the first two of Dominic's four goals. Both were quick breaks, on Kirstie's left and Lucas's right, with Timmy( plus Dom) waiting to convert into points. Our back three of Brooke, Erin and Eliza were cohesive in defence, allowing a solid attacking formation to build pressure and take the lead. An instant Wolves goal in reply levelled the scores at 3-all before a rapid-fire scoring spree in the final 10 minutes left the eventual result at 4-4, an exciting draw.
LVA UNITED V STALLIONS. The Stallions made a great comeback from being down 2-0 to eventually take out the game 5-3. George Carroll continued his impressive attacking form and scored two goals, well supported by a goal to Levi Richards and Caleb Etty who put a very clever penalty goal into the back corner of the net. Excellent defensive game from Lucy Harrison, Hannah Watson and Katrina Nash. Xander Bennet was player of the Week.
LVA United were away to a great start with Walker scoring two early goals, and his team mates putting in some great attacking work. The second half saw some good defence from Ainslie, Jesse, Ben, Paige, Alexander and Zach. Walker set up another fantastic goal for William to score. Mitchell and Nathan played well and were fabulous in goal, and Maddison almost scored a couple of great goals to be Player of the Week.
Under Thirteens: KIP MCGRATH STRIKERS V STALLIONS. The Strikers displayed great teamwork, and passing and support set the platform for a good Strikers' win. Sam was safe in goal with Russell, Tom and Paul solid in the backs. Joe Bullock, Joe Smith, Daniel and Gemma made up the halves and midfield Matthew, Danni and Courtney were the strike power up front. Player of the Week was Joseph Smith with a non-stop effort.
The 'Stallions' started a little slowly with the Strikers scoring two early goals before the 'Stallions' settled down. Ashley Sevil carried on her excellent defence from last week, ably assisted by Natalie Hare and James Russell. Cait Walker, Keira-Lee Whatman and Nicole Stevenson made a formidable forward line which just failed to find the net. Ebony Watson earned Player of the Week with a solid performance in the midfield before taking on goalie in the second half. Ben Miskiewicz, Jesse Richards and Amy Banks performed well in the midfield, feeding the ball to the forwards and stopping many Striker raids in their tracks. Tanisha Whatman was a dependable goalie in the first half. We look forward to even more improvement next week.
Under Sixteens: STALLIONS V STRIKERS. The Strikers had a great win against a hustling Stallions side. Player of the Week Jarrad Carter earned his 3 points, with Ryan Dagg displaying courageous play and Haim Maric also being in the points.
No report from Stallions.
