Pythons accepted into Blowes Cup

08 Feb, 2006 08:02 AM
Welcome to 2006. This will be a big year for the Canowindra Pythons with our acceptance into the Blowes Cup competition and to start the ball rolling we will be having our Rugby Ball and Charity Auction raising money for apex to hopefully put more lights up at our local sporting ground.

The ball and auction will be held at the Canowindra Bowling Club on Saturday February 11.

Tickets will cost $25 per head and if everyone could buy their tickets before Thursday it would make it easier to arrange numbers for catering.

Tickets can be purchased at Canowindra Produce, Canowindra Hardware, Canowindra Country Labels or the Royal Hotel Canowindra.

We have a lot of auction items including an autographed football signed by the Wallabies, a signed North Queensland Cowboys jumper and the very special renovation team (if you want to know what that means you will have to show up) so we hope to see you there with your wallets to support Canowindra and support the Pythons.

The ball starts at 6.00pm. Hope to see you there.

CALLING JUNIOR PYTHONS

Calling all possible junior Pythons! Calling all possible junior Pythons!

Even though it's still scorching hot it's time to start thinking about cold, muddy, rainy days and chasing a rugby ball around the field.

Particularly if you are going to be 13 this year as the Pythons are hoping to get enough players for a new Under 13's Canowindra side in the Central West competition.

To run the Under 13's side we need about 20 thirteen year old boys willing to play and travel on Saturday mornings, with season lasting from about mid April to mid September.

Team nominations need to be in shortly so the draw can be finalised for the Under 13's age group.

So if you are 13 this year and curious or keen about the Under 13's Rugby Union give one of the following people a ring:

Rob Clulow 6344 1939; Matt Barker 6344 1778; Peter Middleton 6364 0233 or Stephen Russell 6344 1952.

The junior Pythons will still be attending the Gala Days, which are run on Sundays and are about every 3 weeks from May to September.

The Gala Day age groups are Under 8's, Under 10's and Under 12's and each Sunday involves three games which vary from the non tackle under 8's to the tackle and smaller scrum and lineout of the Under 12's.

The Sunday's are about participation and skills and generally turn out to be fun for all those involved, so if you are interested give the numbers mentioned above a ring and they can give you more information.

Rugby Union's a fun game so if you are interested give the organisers a ring and give it a go this year.
