A very successful meeting was held at the Canowindra Golf Club on Monday September 3, 2007 to begin preparations for this year's Touch Football competition. There were an extremely good number of people attend the meeting, representing some 10 teams, which was fantastic to see.
Those present at the meeting decided that a Committee was required to ensure the competition ran smoothly and efficiently throughout the season. Elected representatives for the Committee are President - Rob Clulow; Treasurer - Lorrae Barker; Secretary - Tracy Lamb; Committee Members - Renae Nash (responsible for the draw and results tally), Rob Morris and Craig Newcombe.
A registration night will be held on Monday 24 September 2007 at the Oval, commencing at 6.30pm. Representatives from teams wishing to play this year must be present on this night to nominate a team and their team colour. Those teams who were represented at the meeting on 3 September do have first preference, so it is extremely important that all teams register on the 24th.
The competition will kick off on Monday 15 October 2007, which is the first week back from school holidays. The starting time for the first games this year has also been put back to 6.30pm.
Fees for this year's season are $600 per team, with a $20 discount for each player under 18, eg if there are 2 players under 18, the team fee is $560. Money is to be paid as a team - money from individual players will not be accepted. Teams will not be able to play unless the money is received in full prior to playing, so it is suggested that between the registration night and the start of competition, team captains collect the money from their team to pay Lorrae Barker on the first night of the competition.
A full list of rules and further information will be given to the team captains on registration night, however it should be noted that juniors wishing to play in the Senior Competition must be in Year 7 this year to play.
The usual rules still apply as in previous years - at least one over 30 year old player and at least one girl on the field at all times, otherwise only 6 players on the field.
For all those Junior players out there, Mark Edwards has advised that he will not be running the Junior competition this year, so we need someone to put their hand up to take on this job if a Junior Competition is to go ahead. Anyone interested in doing this, should contact the President, Rob Clulow, on 6344 1939 or Mark Edwards on 6344 1253.
Thanks to everyone who turned up to the first meeting and put their hand up to help out with the running of this year's competition.
