Success for Little A’s at region

28 Feb, 2007 08:06 AM
A group of athletes travelled to West Wyalong on the weekend for the Regional Little Athletics carnival.

Our Region is made up of 6 zones and 54 clubs. Athletes travelled as far from Wollongong and Shoalhaven to Gilgandra, Griffith and Wagga Wagga. Our zone covers a huge area.

All of our athletes are to be congratulated on their personal efforts over the two days of competition. The competition in all age groups was of a very high standard with our boys competing against state representatives.

The experience they have gained will enable the athletes to better their own personal best times and push them to the next goal.

Results were:

Regan Hughes U9 1st 200m

2nd Discus

3rd 100m

5th Long Jump

Curtis Hughes U12 10th Discus

Troy Jenkins U13 8th 80m Hurdles

7th 200m

Jesse Jenkins U15 1st Shot Put

3rd Discus

4th 400m

Special congratulations to Regan and Jesse who were placed in the top three in the region in their respective events and will now go on to state level at Homebush, Sydney in March.

A big thank you to our Little Athletics coach Mr. Bob Carline for travelling to West Wyalong with the children and giving out valuable tips and encouraging them to strive to be their best.
