Successful fundraising day

On Saturday August 4 members of the Canowindra Junior League gathered together to hold a golf fundraising day for the three Canowindra players who will be touring New Zealand in October with the Western Division Academies sides. These players are Corey Parrish, Mark Davis and Tim Tobin., With a glorious sunshine to start the day many young golfers and those a little more senior arrived to have a fun day. Laughter seemed to be the order of the day. The lucky winners on the day were:, Men: Mark Grant and Paul Earsman., Juniors: Tim Tobin and Joe Wanless., Ladies: Michelle Davis and Stacie Marie Watson., Many people are to be thanked for having helped this day be a success, they are as follows:, Shane Tobin for throwing the idea around with Gary Rice of the Canowindra Golf Club who in turn offered the club’s support for the day. The Golf Club were very instrumental in the success of the day. , A big thank you to Mick Cassidy (greenkeeper) who had an early start to the day after vandals destroyed a few of the greens., Others to kindly donate to the day were -, Brad Mulligan of Canowindra Butchery for donating his services and cutting up the donated lambs., Donations of lambs were made by Wal and Carrie Tidswell 2, Lawrence Parrish 2, Mark Grant and Ray Davis one each., To Paul and Kathryn Codner who helped in the organisation of the day with Kathryn even running a pool competition for the younger players which Tim Tobin won., Shep’s Takeaway for their donation of bread for the barbecue and Linda and Graham of BP Nangar who kindly donated free video hires which were used as prizes in the pool competition., Lastly thank you to the Canowindra community who turned out to participate in the day and to all those who purchased raffle tickets down the street o Saturday morning. The wood raffle was won by Bob Beakin., Overall the day was a great success with each player receiving a healthy donation towards the cost of their trip. Good luck in New Zealand boys.,
