Canowindra Public School's successful year in sport has continued with a group of students recently representing Western Region at the state athletics carnival at Homebush. Demi Grimshaw was the 12/13 year old girls' shot-put regional champion. Bradyn Cassidy was the champion in the 100m, 200m and long jump in his age group. The girls' relay team consisting of Taneil Thornberry, Mikaela Slattery, Jessica Fisher, Rebecca Tangye and Melissa McLean were regional champions. Taneil also represented at the state carnival in the 200m.
Although none of these athletes were finalists at state level they all performed well against very strong opposition.
In other news, Rohan Toole has been selected to represent Western Region in cricket in the Primary School Sports Association state championships in Sydney in March 2008. Rohan is the first boy to represent the school at this level for a very long time.
