Canowindra Junior Tigers Under 10s and Under 12s have progressed to the next round of the semis while the Under 16s have bowed out of the grand final race for this year.
Before the match reports however comes a request for canteen helpers when the junior Tigers host a major semi final this Sunday.
Sunday will be a very busy day in the canteen as there will be many different teams and towns attending.
Even if you think your maths isn't up to scratch regarding change you can always help getting hot dogs organised or the hot chips and dagwood dogs cooked.
If you haven't had a turn in the canteen this year consider doing half an hour or so on Sunday, especially if you don't have a players in the 12s side, as the canteen is the junior tigers main way of raising money.
Under 10s
The Canowindra Services Club Under 10s must enjoy sudden death football as they defeated Forbes 22-10 at Manildra on Saturday.
At the right end of the season the 10s team work has come to the fore as they played as a team and defended as a team in the dying minutes of the match which ensured that they go to Grenfell this Saturday.
The score at half time was ten all following trys to Callum Clyburn and Tylah Reid while Callum landed one conversion.
The Services Club Under 10s stretched the lead to twelve points after Gene Tarrant and Callum Clyburn scored, with Callum scoring his try by touching down just inside the dead ball line.
Daniel Friend and Louis O' Keefe landed the conversions and the 10s led by 22- 10.
Forbes then began to hit back and the 10s had to defend and protect their lead as Zack Whitehead and Jake Wythes tackled well in the back line while Gene Tarrant, Sam Willson, and Nathan Whatman took the lead in the forwards.
In fact the entire team combined to deny Forbes that last try and when the full time hooter sounded the 10s Tigers had hung on by two points, 22-20 and will play at Grenfell on Saturday.
Earsman's Mixed Concrete Under 12s
The Earsman's Concrete Under 12s juggernaut rolled right over Parkes 24 -0 at Red Bend on Sunday.
In a near perfect display the Under 12s ran and passed superbly as they scored five trys to nil, and tackled Parkes out of the game.
Makk McNaught and Simon Whatman led the defensive effort, in the forwards while Dean Wilson and Alex Willson form a formidable barrier in the centres.
Hooker, Harry Whatman and halves Rohan Toole and Bailey Cain kept the Parkes defence guessing with deft changes of direction from dummy half.
Josh Trayhurn opened up with a couple of penetrating runs down either sideline but it was Bradyn Cassidy who opened up the scoring following a quick run around the referee which evaded all defenders and he scored wide out.
After a strong run from Makk McNaught, Harry Whatman ran from dummy half which surprised the Parkes defenders and Harry was over the line for an 8-0 lead at the break.
Not long after the break Alex Willson almost got over the line but was tackled just short.
From the next play the ball went along the backs to Bradyn who burst onto the ball and went over wide out on the left side.
A beautiful conversion from Dean Wilson saw the gap stretch to fourteen points before Harry Whatman again ran from dummy half and dived under the defenders for the teams fourth try.
Jayden Brown kicked the conversion and the 12s tigers lead by twenty points.
The 12s continued to make ground as Tim Middleton and Tim Wythes made ground with each hit up but it was a piece of brilliant team work which resulted in the 12s last try.
Half Rohan Toole kicked ahead and Bradyn Cassidy ran through, gathered the ball and raced over the line for his third try of the game.
Rohan's conversion attempt hit the cross bar and bounced away rather than over for a full time score of 24-0.
This week the 12s Tigers play Condobolin at home on Sunday, so come and cheer the team on to greater glory.
Just a note for those interested in the Canowindra Public schools Westmont Shield team. They will play either Young at Young on the 29th August or Batemans Bay down the coast on the 4th September, to see who progresses to the final at Newcastle on the 10th/11th September.
Kithome Under 16s
The Kithome Under 16s failed to defend their lead and went down 38-26 to Parkes at Manildra on Saturday.
Parkes opened up with three quick trys down the sidelines before the 16s could settle down.
Once again Brad Bowman and James 'Cho' Augustin lead the way with damaging hit ups and bone jarring tackles.
Stepping up to the mark with outstanding games of their own were James Vitnell and Karl Maere, who tackled anything that moved and made ground every time they got the ball.
When half time came around the 16s lead 16-12 after trys to Stuart Scott, Haydon Hodge and James 'Cho' Augustin and a conversion each to Haydon Hodge and Stuart Scott.
Haydon and Cho scored again in the second half and with one conversion the 16s tally increased to twenty six points.
However these were the final scores for the 16s and punishing forays from Parkes up the middle led to Parkes scoring throughout the half and two trys in the last five minutes saw the 16s lead finally evaporate and Parkes progress to the minor semi this Saturday.
Despite their wonderful attacking skills of the 16s according to coach Gary Whatman it is defence that ultimately wins matches and the 16s need to work on this for the 2008 season.
