Tigers will host ladies day on Sunday

28 Jul, 2010 12:32 PM
This Sunday the Tigers return home in all three grades. The club will be hosting ladies day, with all ladies attending the ground receiving complimentary drinks in the marquee lounge.

The League tag girls will start the day against the Bullettes kicking off at 11:45am and then into the marquee lounge to cheer on the open juniors who take on Cabonne United kicking off at 12:45pm.

At 2pm the First grade side take on the Molong Bulls in the match of the round. The

senior tigers will be looking to keep their

undefeated home record intact.

In what can only be described as a gutsy effort an undermanned tigers outfit were

eventually beaten 48-20 by the Condobolin Rams on Sunday.

The senior side was hit with a dose of the flu going around and it took its toll on the side as the rams raced away in the late stages of the game.

The Rams led 24-14 at half time, before some Rob Burn brilliance put Nick Whatman over and narrowed the gap to 24-20 just after the break.

Here the score remained for a long period of time, with the tigers just unable to finish the rams off.

As we see so often in these games a long

distance try against the run of play turned the momentum and the Rams scored back to back tries and took the game out of the tigers reach.

The Tigers still sit in fifth position on the

ladder but need to win this Sunday with Eugowra and Condobolin closing the gap fast.

Condobolin 48 def Canowindra 20 (Phil Butler, Damian Kennedy, Nick Whatman, Sam O’Malveney tries. Rob Burn 2 goals)

League Tag

A much improved Condobolin outfit

outlasted the Tigresses in an entertaining match on Sunday. The Condobolin girls raced to a 5-1 half time lead, before the Tigresses struck

repeatedly and closed the gap to 5-4.

There was some great play in the dying

minutes but the Condobolin defence held on and they ran out winners 5-4. For the Tigresses Sarah Cummings, Kylie Pull and Kylie Dunn had strong games with Sally McClean voted players player.

Condobolin 5 defeated Canowindra 4 (Sally McClean 3 Maddie Vitnell tries).

Open Juniors

The referees claimed this was the best Open Juniors match of the season.

The Tigers scored first in the opening

minutes to lead 6-0. Condobolin didn’t waste any time scoring back to back and took a 10-6 lead. This is where the score remained for almost the entire match until the tigers scored with less then two minutes on the clock for a 12-10 win.

Despite the low score it was a great game with plenty of busts but desperate defence from both sides the highlight of the day.

Round 14

The Tigers at home in all three grades kicking off at 11:45.

Coming Events

In the Round 18 match on Saturday August 21st the club will be hosting past players day. All three grades will be playing on the day with the first grade side taking on Cargo Blue heelers at 3.00pm.

The entire 1995 premiership winning team will be in attendance.

All past players and committee men will receive complimentary drinks in the Marquee lounge.

The day is sponsored by Canowindra Services Club.
