Pythons prepare for souther President's Cup competition

03 Mar, 2010 07:46 AM
Once again the rugby season is fast approaching.

This year the Pythons are playing in the Southern Presidents Cup Competition which includes teams from Blayney, three Orange clubs, Cudal and three new teams to the competition which are Grenfell, West Wylong and Condoblin.

This puts Canowindra geographically in the middle of the zone which will be a big plus for our team with not as much travelling as in years gone by.

The first competition game is the 17th of April vs Orange Ag College at Orange.

The club is looking forward to what will hopefully be a successful year both on and off the paddock.

The Pythons are lucky enough to secure the same coaching staff as last year with Graham Rice and Rob Morris happy to put their hands up for the job again.

With past and present players helping out when reacquired too.

Training has already started with the boys training at the pool for the past five weeks with thanks to Steph Scott for keeping it open for us.

This week will see training return to the oval on Thursday nights at 7pm.

All old and new players are urged to attend and run off that off season kilos.

A trial game is planned for Friday the 9th of April to co-inside with the balloon weekend.

The club’s AGM will be held this Thursday night at 8pm straight after training with anyone that would like to be part of club in what ever capacity encouraged to come along to the meeting.

The club has been lucky enough to have had alot of players and supporters to get on board in the last few years in helping to organise the day to day runnings of the club but like every club in the country the more people we get to help out the better it is for everyone.

So hopefully we will see a all of the old faces at the meeting with a few new ones to.
