Canowindra Tigers have kept their undefeated home record in tact with a convincing 48-36 victory against the Peak Hill Roosters.
The Tigers were never headed as they piled on eight tries. Led by Brian Moss and Kepu Nathan, the forward pack dominated the day.
The Tigers led 24-12 at the break and raced away to a match winning lead midway through the second half, late in the game the tigers were reduced to twelve men with a controversial sin binning, and the Roosters struck scoring four tries in the final minutes, but they were never going to catch the tigers.
Across the park the tigers played as a team and kept in the ‘arm wrestle’ when needed. With Kepu, Moss and the Walkers dominating, the tiger’s halves, Damian and Tim Kennedy had a field day setting up their runners.
The tiger’s victory was even more impressive without speedy backs Phil Butler and Sam O’Malveney.
Best and Fairest Points went to Kepu Nathan, Nick Whatman, Rob Burn and
Pat Kennedy. Any of the eighteen players could have received points on the day.
Canowindra 48 (Kepu Nathan 3, Brian Moss, Damian Kennedy, Nick Whatman, Rob Burn, Waihe Upegueto tries. Rob Burn 8 goals) def Peak Hill 36.
