Rain through he week ensured there were a lot less bugs flying round Swimming Club this week as everyone signed and lined up beautifully for the relay at the end of the night.
The first race on the programme was the 66m freestyle where Adelaide Ellis took twelve seconds off her time while Amelia Holmes knocked nine seconds from her best time.
Abbey Slattery removed seven seconds off her best while Tim Wythes, Curtis Hughes took five seconds from their PBs.In the 33m freestyle, or the spoon, the younger swimmers led the way as Angus Fisher took 7 seconds from his best and Claire Wright smashed her time by 6 seconds.
Abbey Slattery was next best with a four second improvement while Harry Jeffrey swam three seconds faster than before.
In the older age groups where improvements are harder to come by Amara Flannery, Regan Hughes, Chris Coady, Curtis Hughes and Tim Wythes all lowered their times by a second as they approach times in the very low twenties.
In the spoon semi finals Sam Coady and Josh Middleton smashed their times by more than two seconds so were unable to go through to the final.
The spoon final was a close race as usual as lanes one and two caught the fever of the race and both swam personal bests with Wade Kinsela in lane two winning the spoon in a best time of 37 seconds with Zali Dunn just behind in second.
Abbey Slattery and Amelia Hickman continued to improve their times as both took 4 seconds from her time in the 33m breaststroke, while Jennifer Holmes and Jake Wythes lowered their times by 3 seconds.
In the 33m butterfly Ebanne Malae showed his enjoyment of swimming club as he took 5 seconds from his best for the butterfly while J. P. Curran lowered his time by three seconds in the 33m backstroke and Julia Wright lowered her time by two seconds in the same stroke.
There were five heats of time trials in the 100m BBB as swimmers set their times for future races while in the one race of timed swimmers Harriet Balcomb led the charge with a 31 second improvement on her best time.
Stewart Russell took 19 seconds off his time for three laps of breaststroke while Alicia Earsman lowered her time by 5 seconds and Sara Naylor lowered hers by one after they had a long wait on the blocks until they could start.
The relay was a close affair to finish the night as six lanes of eight swimmers lined up for the start.
The winners in lane four were Angus Andrews, Harry Jeffrey, Sophie Tremain, Ellen Blair, Will Fagan, Ebanne Malae, Regan Hughes, and Jayden Brown.
This week the races are the four strokes in 33m, the 66m freestyle and the Medley so sign up before Wednesday afternoon and be at the Pool by 5:54pm for roll call on Friday.
