Canowindra Swimming Club will not be held this week due to the Australia Day holiday, it will recommence on Friday 2nd February with the first of the championships, breaststroke.
Swimming Club will shortly be holding their annual Carnival on Sunday 4th February 2007.
A basket is being left at the pool for people to load up with goodies for a raffle, which will be drawn at the Carnival, so please be generous and make it a quality raffle.
As expected this week the big improvers came in the Medley with the greatest of these coming from Sara Naylor who slaughtered last year's medley time by 32 seconds.
Well done Sara!
Alicia Smith took 18 seconds from her medley time while Pip Johnson removed 15 seconds from her best and Bailey Cain took his PB down by 14 seconds.
Madison Vitnell cut12 seconds from her time while Casey Edwards lowered her time by a further 11 seconds.
Older sister Peta Edwards continued the trend taking 8 seconds from her medley while Beatrice Patterson removed 10 seconds from her previous best.
Sarncha Smith took 7 seconds from her time while Erica Johnson finished the medley improvers when she lowered her time by 4 seconds.
Ali Beath triumphed in a close spoon final with a personal best time of 28 seconds.
Sara Naylor continued her improvements as she lowered her 33m breaststroke time by 4 seconds while Samantha Flannery lowered her time by the same time.
Eloise Beath, Jake Wythes, Beatrice Patterson and Hannah Roth all achieved a 2 second drop in their time for the same event.
Stewart Russell was the lone improver in the backstroke as he knocked 3 seconds from his 33m time accompanied by raucous support from the official's table.
The belly flop competition was a dead heat this week as Elijah Beath and James Vitnell could not be separated and both didn't want to have a flop off.
I wonder why???
The 66 m freestyle saw three major improvers as Catherine Davis took 6 seconds from her time while Cassie Naylor removed 4 seconds from her time before Amy Banks lowered her time by 2 seconds.
As usual the final event of the night was the relay where six teams of 5 swimmers competed before lane 2 took out the event with the team of: Harriet Balcomb, Samantha Flannery, Hannah Roth, Michael Watt and Erica Johnson.
A final note is that there is no swimming Club this week as it's the Australia Day Holiday, Swimming Club will resume on the 2nd February with the first Championship race, which is breaststroke.
