Swimming Club started with the 100m freestyle and finished with the 400m freestyle, a marathon twelve laps of the pool.
Times tumbled in the hundred free as it hadn’t been swum for a while and Sophie Tremain led the way with an eighteen second improvement.
Bailey Cain improved by 11 seconds before Regan Hughes and Samantha Flannery swam 10 seconds faster.
Josh was a second behind his sister at 9 seconds while Tim Middleton and Madison Vitnell took 5 seconds from their times before Dan Middleton shaved a respectable four seconds from his best time.
In the race for the spoon, the 33m freestyle, Charlotte Balcomb and Finbar Smyth swam four seconds faster while Sam Hudson lowered her time by 3 seconds in the heats and so were ineligible for the final.
Olivia McNamara swam a second faster in her heat then 11 seconds faster in her semi final as was too fast for the final as well.
Hayley White, Harriet Balcomb, Stewart Russell, Ali Beath, Gemma White, Sam Flannery, Lachlan Clulow and Bailey Cain all lowered their times by a second and swam in the semis.
In a very close spoon final Hannah Roth touched out the others and won the spoon with a time of 23 seconds.
There must be something worth bottling in the McNamara water as Olivia continued to impress with a 19 second improvement in the 33m breaststroke, Pete lowered his 33m breaststroke by 7 seconds while Anna McNamara lowered her 66m breaststroke by 15 seconds.
Charlotte Balcomb took 5 seconds from her lap of breaststroke, closely followed by Harry Jeffrey, 4 seconds, Skye Robson three seconds and Sophie Tremain 2 seconds.
Josh Trayhurn improved his 33m backstroke by 2 seconds closely followed by Rosie Beath and Tina Wensley with a single second improvement.
Bailey Cain continued to show a swift butterfly with a four second slashing of his PB while Tim Middleton, Hannah Roth and Pete McNamara swam a second faster than before for the ‘fly.
Georgia Balcomb smashed her 66m breaststroke by 14 seconds, Sophie Tremain improved her 66 backstroke by 10 seconds and Joanna Balcomb swam 8 seconds faster than before.
Three second improvements came from Rosie Beath, Tim Middleton, Alicia Earsman and Erica Blanch for the 66 butterfly while Gemma White and Lachlan Clulow improved their times by 2 seconds for the same stroke.
Five committed swimmers set their initial times for the 400m freestyle while Bailey Cain took 20 seconds from his time while Samantha Flannery and Madison Vitnell lowered their times by 15 seconds.
Twenty five swimmers contested the relay at the end of the night and as usual it came down to the last five swimmers and lane five won by about half a second: the team was Joanna Balcomb, Tom Robson, Ali Beath, Haydon White and Josh Trayhurn.
Championships start this week so all those wishing to swim the freestyle races must sign the book by Wednesday night to ensure their place.
