Before we launch into the report from Friday night here is some news hot off the press, so to speak.
Anna Payten has squeezed us in her extremely busy schedule and has agreed to provide some coaching for swimmers early in the new year.
On Thursday January 3, Tuesday January 8 and Thursday January 10 Anna will be coaching swimmers from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
Any ‘swimming-clubber’ is welcome for stroke correction at these times and Anna is researching a replacement from then on.
Anna has very generously donated her time so if you have a fly that won’t ‘butter’ or a frog kick that looks more like a grasshopper then come along and get some excellent advice.
After a rather spectacular thunderstorm Canowindra Swimming Club got underway on Friday with the first running of the medley for 2007.
As it was the first time for the medley there were some big improvers as Bailey Cain led the way with an amazing 44 second improvement over the four laps.
Blood-sisters Sara Naylor and Pip Johnson were the next best improvers as Sara lopped 27 seconds from her PB while Pip chopped 26 seconds off her previous best.
Wallace Stranger beat his time by 17 seconds while Michael Watt lowered his time by a creditable 13 seconds.
Brydon Hughes lowered his time by nine seconds while Beatrice Patterson and Madison Vitnell rounded out the medley improvers with a four and three second improvement, respectively.
Simone Middleton had a very quick night as she chopped five seconds off her 33 metres backstroke PB while she also lowered her 33 metres freestyle time by two seconds.
Other backstroke improvers were Tayla Huckle and Josh Flannery who took three seconds off their PBs while Sophie Tremain, Max Wensley and Madi Vitnell lowered their times by two seconds.
The Belly Flop certificate finally went to Brydon Hughes after the judges conferred and checked with the rule book.
Michael Brown and Tayla Huckle both improved their 33 metres butterfly while Hannah Roth and Georgia Balcomb chopped two seconds off their 33 metres freestyle time.
Georgia made it an impressive night as she launched off the blocks first in the spoon final and held off all the older, faster swimmers to take out the spoon in a personal best time of 41 seconds.
Sophie Tremain swam the two laps of freestyle four seconds faster than before while Lucy Harrison took three seconds off her best time for the same event.
As usual the relay brought the shelters down as Byrdon Hughes led a tam of Eloise Beath, Hannah Roth, Samantha Flannery, Matt McLean, Alex Willson and Tim Middleton to victory from lane four to finish off the night.
Just a couple of reminders the swimming development day will be held on Sunday December 16 and if anyone is interested in going and hasn’t let Louise Clulow know, could you please do so as swimmers will be provided with morning tea and lunch so we need numbers for catering, thanks.
Also if anyone would like a swimming club polo shirt the orders need to be with Julie by this Friday (December 14) so the order can be back by mid January.
If anyone would like a new swimming club swimsuit please let Sue Brown know by Friday December 21 as a new order will be sent off for those as well.
