Canowindra swimming club wrapped up their final swim of 2007 and hosted a successful swimming development day on Sunday.
Thanks goes to Barbara Weaver from Central Western Districts swimming for organising such a fantastic day for our local swimmers.
Once the recalcitrant older swimmers were removed from the lane ropes the morning progressed smoothly under four coaches, one of whom was AJ who powered up the lanes at swimming club last year.
Unfortunately he didn’t give the swimmers a live demonstration. Sigh!
The swimmers learnt a lot in the packed morning sessions, so thanks to all those involved in organising the morning.
Now to swimming Club on Friday night where it was brother against brother in an action packed 33 metres freestyle spoon final.
Isaac Beath won the final in a best time of 24 seconds just ahead of big brother Elijah who was closing fast.
Elijah lowered his time to a flat 20 seconds also a good effort.
New season protégé, Joe Coady again lowered his time by a second in his heat then smashed his time by four seconds in the semi final and so was ineligible to compete in the final.
Joe’s time is now 39 seconds.
Huge improvers for the night came in the 100 metres freestyle where Sara Naylor led the way with a 30 second improvement, followed by Erica Johnson who smashed her time by 21 seconds.
